I was there when they were nobody
I was there from the era of Glenn Hoddle and then to Ruud Gullit and then to Gianluca Vialli and then to Claudio Ranieri and then to Jose Mourinho and then to Avram Grant and now Big Phil - That’s Scolari for you non-believer.
I was there at Bukit Jalil when they thump Malaysian all star 4-1 in 2003
And I swear to God I won’t miss it this time
It would not be a complete seafood restaurant if you do not see those seafood live in front of your eyes. Well, in this second part of my visit to the Marina Bay Seafood Restaurant, I present to you pictures of my visit to the aquarium of the restaurant. The aquarium of the restaurant is just next to the restaurant itself. It’s a huge aquarium I must say and you can find lotsand lotsa live sea creatures inside in any size. Big, small, long, hard, slimy - name it!
Some prawns. I don’t really know what type of prawn but those are prawns to me anyway
This is an American big ass spider crab. Spider crabs usually have ong legs, in a way like a spider and that is why it is called spider crab. Now, I don’t know whether this is a real spider crab or the restaurant owner is trying to be genius by simply naming this big ass crab as spider crab- assumming that everybody is a fool, hnestly it doesn’t look like a spider crab to me. I’ve seen one, believe me. But maybe because the one that I saw was a Japanese spider crab, which is a lot uglier compared to this one. It has longer legs than this one and thinner too but I guess maybe the Americans preffer their crabs to be more of a Tobey-spidey-liked rather than the Daisuke Oku-liked. Oh well, Americans!
Another interesting to look at. No, this is not the latest dildo in town and also nothing related to a duck but it is something that they called a Geoduck. Interestingly the thing does look like an overgrown albino penis. It’s humongously huge and even larger than a horse’s penis for God sake! Little that you’ve known, this penis-liked creature is actually a species of a clam.
According to wiki :
The geoduck (pronounced /ˈguːiːdʌk/ “gooey duck”[1]), Panopea abrupta, is a species of large saltwater clam, a marine bivalve mollusk. The shell of this clam is large, about 15 to over 20 cm in length (about 7 to 9 inches), but the long siphons make the clam itself much longer; the “neck” or siphons alone can be one meter in length.
One meter in lenght? Good God! Imagine I had one like that - I don’t mean by the little brother down there. That would be the worst nightmare man. Where to hide?
These are called the Mantis Shrimps. Now, these shrimps are cool in a way because they have spearers armed with spiny appendages topped with barbed tips, used to stab and snag prey and
Smashers, on the other hand, possess a much more developed club and a more rudimentary spear (which is nevertheless quite sharp and still used in fights between their own kind); the club is used to bludgeon and smash their meals apart. The “punch” delivered has roughly the acceleration of a .22 caliber pistol.[5] The inner aspect of the dactyl (the terminal portion of the appendage) can also possess a sharp edge, with which the animal can cut prey while it swims.
And for that reason, *winks*winks* said that they have to be separated in one aquarium - with bottles.
Another interesting fact about these creatures is that they are notoriously difficult to catch when established in a well-stocked tank and have been known to destroy aquariums by cracking the glass. Gees, If you were thinking of having those as pets, get a bulletproof aquarium.
This one, we don’t have to look far for it. These creatures can be found in most places in Sarawak because we are quite rich in mangrove forest. These are a few bunch of the locals in this aquarium because the rest, most of them are shipped from other countries. These species are called the Scylla serrata (often called mud crab or mangrove crab, although both terms are highly ambiguous, as well as black crab) is an economically important crab species found in the estuaries and mangroves of Africa, Australia and Asia. In their most common form, the shell colour varies from a deep, mottled green to very dark brown. Generally cooked with their shells on, when they moult their shells, they can be served as a seafood delicacy, one of many types of soft shell crab. Some consider them to be among the tastiest of crab species and they have a huge demand in South Asian countries where they are often bought alive in the markets. In the northern states of Australia and especially Queensland, mud crabs are relatively common and generally prized above other seafood within the general public.
So, that’s why it is quite cheap.
Oy, mate! Why so serious? Now doubt as one of the finest oysters in the world the Austalian Oyster No bigger than the top half of a little finger, bulbous rather than flat, Australian oysters glide down the throat with ease. These oysters are not for chewing, and with the help of frosty cold beer, connoisseurs slurp down a dozen in a few minutes. That is just so - delicious!
Another shot at the best oyster in the world
If you’re looking for a fresh from the water kind of seafood, this is definitely a place for you to visit. I don’t mind spending some bucks having a fine dine in this place. Love it!

After breakfast we decided to take a walk along Kuching waterfront. It’s been a while since I last came to this place.

The majestic view of Hilton Hotel facing Sungai Sarawak

Sungai Sarawak

Another shot at Sungai Sarawak

I love this shot - Along waterfront

Another shot at it

Perfect!

Something caught my attention. See these beautiful tribal design?

The new DUN building - Boring!

Another design on the tiles

Kuching Waterfront Walk of Fame - Rajah Brooke!
When it comes to parties and fest, I always got super excited and this year, RWMF it didn’t change at all. Yes, I was pretty much excited about the whole thing. Initially we planned to stay at Damai Puri which is just a walking distance from the place but since all of our bookings were cancelled for no apparent reason, we have to settle for Harbour View - which is not bad either.

We too the shuttle bus from our hotel to Sarawak Cultural Vilage which took about an hour to get there because the lousy driver somehow drove us to Santubong Resort before he realized that he’s in deep shit. Stupid bugger!
When we reached the place the party has already started. Massive jams caused by humans and astro creeps making life not as easy as it seems to be but who cares anyway - it’s a fest remember? So, I wouldn’t mind the shoulder to shoulder thingy. That’s life in the fast lane.

Th first workshop I attended was the strings workshop. A few fellas with sitar and what not - simply because I dunno what the hell are those instruments and yes there were “gambus” and I pretty much sure that if anyone of you are from Limbang, you pretty much have heard about this gambus.

Nothing seriously that hot that afternoon as we arrived there a little late but we managed to catch a few mini performances such as the guitar workshop and also percussions - which I enjoyed a lot eventhough I only managed to catch a little glimpse of it.
We spent our time waiting for turns to get tattoed at Lim Kok Wing’s booth which we shouldn’t have toeventhough it’s pretty much worth the wait. The big boss’s tattoo was out of this world. I just love it.

Petrus busy inking ..

Now, some people think that the mud is disgusting. Yes it really is but it’s a fest remember. People don’t mind gettng dirty and if you’re thinking you are going to wear your pretty clothes and not getting dirty might as well you pack up your things and go clubbing in town instead you fat ass! I don’t freaking care about your urbanite friends not being happy because of the mud. It’s a fuckin fest!

We entered the pitt when the song aleng leleng was playing. That pretty much reminds me about the good all YCS days I ad. We used to sing this song for mass and gatherings. It’s fun though.

We moved closer to the stage as time goes by and before we know it, we are just in front of the stage.

Another shot ..

My first experience of RWMF was not a good one I must say. Honestly I didn’t reall enjoy the show because I think that quite a number of the bands playing doesn’t really suit the crowd especiall that Palestinian grup. For me it’s pretty much boring and there’s nothing to shout about at Motofuji’s solo drums performance. It didn’t really impressed me much. I was hoping for something more samba-liked, rattamahatta-liked, capoeira-liked and yes, I am dissapointed at the fact that the budget for this year’s RWMF was cut down. I am definitely not happy!
A few things I think they need to improve on are :
Transportation / parking space
I think this one needs a lot of attention. More bus and less waiting time is better. For God sake we paid for the service and I don’t think it is that hard to get more busses as there are money to be made and the parking space, what more can I say - It’s so damn far!
Toilets
You have the moving toilet and that’s fine with me but what was not fine was this :

Toilet was not in good condition, not well cleaned. For an event like this everything should be top notched. I rather not take pics on what’s inside ad outside,it was an eyesore. No water inside the toilet and how could the management overlooked this things? And if possible more toilets please? Because this is not just a majlis persandingan Rokiah and Raub, there’s gonna be thousands of people flocking the place. Be a little smarter next time.
I was told by Celeste that actualy promotions in KL for the thing was decline. The management refuse to do some performances somewhere in KL for some Gawai Fest held. I thought that was a waste of opportunity, you could have just pocketed more if you just did that. What a shame!
But guys, that won’t stop me from coming again next year and I hope the management hear my plea and a lot of people hav been saying that this is the worst RWMF that they ever attended. I keep my fingers crossed that things will get better next time. don’t fuckin’ care about Penang’s Ranforest blah blah blah …

There was lotsa interesting things happenning throughout RWMF. I can’t deny the fact that I was pretty much excited about the whole thing because this is my first time attending this event. I’ve always wanted to go for the event but being broke and still studying was the only reason I can give you on “why only now?”.
One of the best damn thing is that I met lotsa celebrities along the way.

With Channel [V]’s Dom
The guy is so freaking cool. I saw him at the entrance but I didn’t have the guts to approach him being a shy me *blush*blush* It so happened that he was there nearby the Lim Kok Wing tattoo parlour and I finally went up to him and said
“Dom! Can I take a picture with you?”
“Be my guest. Not a problem at all. You want to hold the mic?”
In my heart - “Channel [V], I hope I’m on TV”
That was so freaking cool!
Lim Kok Wing was having this temporary tattoo’s parlour during the event. While I was wandering around I saw a long lost friend, Ivan. I didn’t know that he is now studying at Lim Kok Wing. When asked about why Lim Kok Wing and why not continuing with UiTM he said - “Passion. I love arts”
And so I asked him to draw a tattoo for me. A temporary one of course. I chose the Borneo Scorpion to be put on my right hand.

Ivan, concentrating …

Almost done …

Then along came Xiao. Initially I wanted him to draw me tattoo but he was so busy back then and I decided to go for Ivan but I guess in a way he felt bad because I waited a bit too long for that and he decided to draw something for my left hand. How cool is that? Having two tattoo artist working on your body at the same time. So freaking cool!

Xiao doing his thing …

Don’t worry, it was just ink and no needles

My Borneo Scorpion is done

My tattoo is done. A long dragon tattoo along the arms down. Cool! I look so young and dangerous. You don’t wanna mess with me.

I just love that. It’s pretty though.
Karen and Lily had theirs too and I think it was so freaking awesome! Floral designs for the ladies. Love it

I shall be back with more updates on RWMF. Catch ya some other time!
Arrived in KL after a weekend of so much fun. Not so glad to be back again ..
It was a fine day. I arrive in Kuching on Friday night and it was so fortunately we managed to get a room at Harbour View hotel. A few of our bookings with other hotels had been cancelled, with the Rainforest World Music Festival happening, that is very much expected.
It was nice to just wake up early in the morning in this part of the world because everthing is so refreshing. The view, the smell .. something you just can’t get back in KL. Like the say : Nothing feels like home. I strongly agree.

Borneo Post greets me as early as 6:30 am and “A Life Less Ordinary” was on the front page! Well, that used to be my home not anymore. Texted Suituapui, bongkersz and Mar about it.
First thing in the morning, where to have breakfast? When there’s no one to walk beside you, and no one is there to guide you, who you gonna call? No, not ghost busters, who else if not Suituapui. Since he blogged so much about places to eat in Kuching, I might as well ask for his expert advice.
We had our breakfast at a coffee shop at the end ofthe block of our hotel It’s just opposite the cinema. I can’t really remember the name of the place but one of the places that Suituapui mentioned earlier on.

Kolo mee special
The kolo mee was a little bit mild in taste but the prawn covered up for the dullness of it. Earlier on Suituapui suggested Kolo Mee kosong with Beef soup and so we ordered …

Beef Soup
One of the best beef soup I’d ever had. Simply finger licking good. Breakfast woul not be complete for me if I did not have toast on the table. we called it roti kawin back home. Simple toast with kaya and butter. Love it.

And last but not least. Something that you must try here in Kuching - The few layers Teh C Peng

In a Carlsberg mug. Wow!
Just a re-post on an article in my archive from my old blog. Something o make up for the days without post. Currently working on my Kuching trip posts. I know most of you might have not read this one before. Cheers!
I had an interesting conversation with mom the other day. Compared to my dad, topics that I discussed with her is much more on the softer side of a guy. I think you got what I mean. I just don’t think that my dad would be a suitable person to talk about lovey dovey stuffs or even about my personal stuffs. He’s a very annoying person.
I was helping her in the kitchen, preparing dinner :
“Is it possible to fall in love with or have a love relationship with two different people at the same time?”
“I guess it is possible”
“Why you say so?”
“I’m not an expert or somebody who have vast of experience in these sorts of thing but for me personally when it comes to loving somebody there can’t be only one answer to it. I mean why not possible? Okay, in some aspect people might see that it is wrong to do so but you can’t lie to yourself and tell yourself that you’re not feeling that. You got what I mean?”
“Not really, it’s wrong but you still can have it? I mean still can have that feeling is that what you mean?”
“Well, sort of. It is still love in a sense. Even a failed relationship is still considered love and same goes to the successful one just that it is a different kind of love. Love can’t be only one. That’s how I personally feel”
“Wah .. You talk like the angel of love la ma!”
She gave me a smile ..
“Look who’s talking”
“I will never talk to dad about something like this you know”
“I bet you won’t”
“He’s one of the most freaking annoying living creatures in this world. I wonder why you marry him in the first place. If I’m you, I would certainly not marry that kind of person”
“Like I said, the answer to love is not one”
Mom got me there …
What They Have To Say
