137“Table For Two : KTZ Restaurant The Fruitti Stall, One Utama”

posted by cibol on September 8th, 2008

It was indeed a very tiring day shopping at One Utama on weekends because everybody knows how heavy the traffic flow is in this place; be it by public transport or by own transport. So what you need to do after long hours of shopping? Lean back in a comfy spot and enjoy nice food that is and we did just that.

We decided to have our lunch at KTZ Restaurant which is situated at 1st Floor, Rainforest wing of the mall. We actually search high and low for the place and of course before going there we did a lot of blog readings and surfing to do. You don’t want to end up not finding the place that you wanted to go to.

KTZ actually stands for “Kei Tak Zek” in Cantonese which mean Jangan Lupa makan literally. As this is our first time to the place we decided to ask for some recommendations from the staffs. We were very grateful that the staffs are very friendly and attentive in a way. Maybe they kinda knew that we were first timer to this place and we badly needed their help.

The décor of the restaurant, I must say that is quite interesting because there’s a lot of lantern hanging around instead of bulbs. In a way it’s very Chinese safe to say; you know that oriental kind of feeling when you enter the place, it’s beautiful. There’s a big mirror hanging on the wall, because I couldn’t really get the picture of the whole place, so I decided to take it from the reflection of the place.

One of the first dish that we tried was the “Mang Guo Nuo Mi Juan“, which is is a something like a pudding in a way. It is actually a slice of mango wrapped in glutinous rice. I think it is the perfect combination of salty, sweet and sour taste at the same time and I never really taste something like this before. Personally I feel that it suited dessert more in a way. It cost RM 6.00 for four pieces.

The second dish was the Pepper Salt Egg Plant. Now tis one is rather interesting because the egg plant itself is very crispy and judging by the look of it I thought that it would be a little oily but t my surprise it was really crunchy and not oily at all! I’ve been fooled! So, do not judge the book by it’s cover, in this case - the egg plant. The egg plant is sprinkled with a lot of chicken floss which made it a lot tastier and appetizing in a way. This one cost RM 4.50.

The fish fillet was not bad either. Of all, I like this one the most. It cost us RM 6.00. It’s worth to try. It is very juicy inside, served hot. It was still smoking when it was sent to us. Love it!

Next, entered the Seaweed Roll. Basically made of ham, chicken, eggs and seaweed wrapped all together in one piece. Cost us RM 6.00 and it was simply delicious. It came with home made mayonnaise for dipping. Love it!

When it comes to squid, we always had a hard time judging it because basically at the moment we have not found the one that really suits our taste buds. The fried squid was a little tasteless. There’s nothing to shout about, really. This one cost RM 6.00.

And as for drinks, we shared a glass of lemon bali which cost us RM 3.80. The glass was big okay, we don’t want to waste - order and than cannot finish.

All in all we spent RM 37.70 inclusive of tax. I must say that s a little bit pricey but overall, the food was superbly delicious. Two thumbs up for the excellent service and nice food!

This is a new place? Never see this dining place before. RM37.70 for two persons? Not that steep really. Worth it, I guess. Shall try when I am back in KL.
