“I Won Two Tickets To F1 Worth RM 1,400!”

Posted by: cibol
March 17th,
2008

The title says it all. What more can I say?

The dynamic Duo, Cibol and Bot Bongkersz.

F1 is just around the corner, and so was the …

It somehow much more like a dream come true to us, poor bloggers from the land of the hornbills to be given the chance of getting our ass on the hot seat at Sepang International Circuit!

Now, how to win F1 tickets? It’s pretty simple. Listen to Traxxfm!

Like me.

Cut the crap .. Actually was bored on Saturday. I asked Drumsticks out but she told me that she couldn’t make it. So, down to me and Bot Bongkersz. Why Bot? Botak, that’s why. Actually I was in the office a few hours before. There were some matters to be done. Well, new broom .. What to do?

When I arrived at Times Square the show was already started. I was looking for Mag and Pat. Didn’t managed to find em so I decided to just relax and enjoy a cup of Java Frapuccino. I knew that Traxx was going to have their On The Road show that day because of our dear Suituapui. He texted me a few days before and I asked him to remind me about the event because I am a busy man. I am a busy man, really .. see, no post for the past few days. That proves that I’m a busy man and not to mention poor too.

After almost an hour at Starbucks we decided to take a peek at the show. I saw Mag wondering around and Pat - Busy entertaining the girls. I got excited a bit. Maybe I was a little star strucked. Imagine meeting the person that you texted everyday at 32776, requesting for songs and dedications .. and there they were in front of my eyes. How could I not be star strucked?

With Mag! - STP said I look like a Japanese in this picture. Really ah?

Now, what do I have to do to get F1 tickets for free? Simple :

Buy a slurpee and come back to the station the fastest.

During briefing, see how excited I was? People say, “Nak seribu daya, Tak nak - Jangan Isap rokok“.

The moment NAVSTA & GREENMAN said “GO” … You can’t see me anymore. I was already there at 7E buying slurpee. The not so best thing is that I never buy slurpee before and I don’t know how either. I actually messed up the counter with green and yellow slime and I actually made the cashier a little nervous. I keep on saying,

“Come on boy, you can do better than that. I need to win this”

I saw another guy with slurpee running through the front door and damn I was still at the counter. I got panic attack. I grab my slurpees and ran as fast as I could. I saw the guy taking the left lane. I knew I can catch him up if I just go straight but the problem was I have to go through all the chairs and crowded starbucks and a car to get there. I took the path, heck I care. I saw a lady in front of me and I actually shouted at her :

“Get out of my way! I need to win this!”

Boy, you should’ve seen her face. I think she got a shock of her life seeing me running like a bulldozer trying to catch the guy in front of me. I guess ladyluck was on my side because they guy got pancit-ed and was grasping for breath at the very end of the race but I still have another huge obstacle in front of me, an auto bavaria. I said :

“Shit, I don’t care. I wanted this real bad and nothing can stop me now”

I pulled up all my energy and jumped over a car which was displayed in front of the main entrance and I almost stumbled but I keep my head cool, fixed my running and walaaa .. I got there first leaving the another guy dropping his jaw down. God, I can’t put it into words. I should’ve recorded everything on video, man. What a shame!

Whatever, at least I got what I wanted …

Drool over it la ..

Nah, some more

The rest, let the pictures speaks for themselves.

With Pat, Cibol and Mag - In The Afternoon

They got their slurpees, I got my prize …

SWEET! What a start to life in KL ..

Before I end this post, let’s sing some happy birthday song to our birthday boy Pat

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you Pat!
Happy Birthday to you

“Cibol On The Run!”

Small talk : Remember last time I told you guys that my Streamyx got into NPL? I got it back. That explains the mysterious disappearance of cibol from the blogosphere these past few days. I tell you, living without internet for just one day can really kill me!

And there was sunlight …

And what can you see?

Nothing right?

At least can see a bit .. of me

And C-P

And lots and lotsa people …

And this is what you get for RM98!

No, I’m not frustrated. In fact I enjoyed my time throughout the whole concert.

We were actually quite late for the concert and being me myself not having enough sleep the night before doesn’t really help but we braved our sleepy eyes and put some energy on. This is my first ever concert in 3 years. The last one was when Incubus was in KL and that was back in 2005. This time around, I’m gonna make it. I missed a lot of concerts ever since I decided to go back to Bintulu.

How would I describe the atmosphere? Awesome, that’s the only word for it. The crowd was huge! I love it man …

Because of my shit photo taking skills, I decided to google around and found this guy. He got nice shots - Kien Huo

The crowd was …

This was taken during the first song I guess .. I can’t read Chinese, but I think I know how the song goes!

Aiyo, why la superstars have to wear something so … out of this world. Geez!

I like this one …

he actually sang Suituapui’s favourite song, “Huo Yuan Jia” I called STP up but then I don’t know he picked it up or not but I can’t hear anything. So, I just “kuo kuo kuo kuo kuo” all the way!

This is the cowboy song. It’s very irritating actually but somehow during the concert I managed to clap and dance to it. I think the same goes to Charyelle, she was there too.

Fancy this type? Alamak …

I was hoping that he would sing a loty of songs from his latest album but surprisingly he didn’t. He sang like maybe around 20 songs, I lost count - He didn’t sing “Wo Bu Pei“. I’m a bit disappointed but at least he sang “Cai Hong

But he did sang …

My fav song …

Small talk : I landed at Bintulu airport on board AK5272 sharp at 1645. I’m gonna missed KL though. I need some sleep!

Another day, another year and yes, I got older! You don’t have to remind me of that. I had my birthday party at Finnegan’s, Jalan Sultan Ismail last Friday.

To be honest with you, this was my first time celebrating something like this in a place like this. I don’t really know what to call the place but it’s the place la safe to say. I’m making you blurr? Finnegan’s , Sultan Ismail (F3) - is the 3rd edition to the Finnegan’s family. Catering to passing tourists, hungry and thirsty from their shopping and locals from offices in and around the Golden Triangle. Finnegan’s Sultan Ismail is defiantly an eye catcher as you drive by, with its bright green and yellow exterior, tanned tourists and superbly well dressed city folks all enjoying their drinks on a veranda from an old heritage bungalow.

This year around, to celebrate the launch of my new blog I decided to throw a party for friends in KL. I’m no femes bloger as per say but this is just what I can afford, the whole second floor of Finnegan’s and I must thank Rory for making things happen. You rock, gurl!

Rory, the person behind the success of this event!

I was so damn worried about the whole thing and I think I did contribute to all the stress that she was feeling all these while. How can I not be worried, this is my first time and I don’t want anything to go wrong lerr .. But as I said earlier, she did a great job! I owe her a lot.

I actually arrived at the place a little late because we were stuck in a jam somewhere in PJ. I tell you, it was one helluva jam! During that period of time, Rory keep on calling and SMSing me asking me where the hell I am and sort, she got worried because I was not there and so are the rest but to my surprise, Ah Jing came in first with Alice! The two wonderful Sarikeian blogger!

Alice not happy that I finished all the kalamari all by myself. She is a big fan of sotongs also

Charyelle on high!

List of attendees :

Bongkersz - The Flaccid Mind
Charyelle - Writing Upon A Star
Oink - Used to be “The Lamp Post” and “The Scorched Firefly”
Ah Jing - Access Granted
Alice - Dejavu World
Clare - Kampua Talk
Alvin Chong - Alvin’s Weblog
Rory - Fairy Delle
Drumsticks - An Empty Bottle

I think it would not be complete if they didn’t asked me to sing a few songs. And so, I did .. I sang “Over You - Chris Daughtry” and “All About Loving You - Bon Jovi”.

Trying very hard to catch the highest note! Go Cibol!

This cake is super ass keras. It’s on the house. Thanks guys!

A terbalik view taken from Charyelle’s blog

The ultimate test was the Flaming Lambourghini! Oink, I wished you’d had briefed me in details what to do because at the end of it I think I burnt my nostrils gua …

Like drinking a hot boiling milo with a straw …

Ah Jing control hensem …

With Clare, the Kampua Queen …

Drumsticks can’t wait to eat while I make my wish …

Rory giving us some instructions on how to sing Happy Birthday in a correct tone …

We’re done with the place at about 1:30 PM and next destination was …

Karaoke lor .. where else …

The Dixie Chix + A guy (Drumsticks, Rory, Charyelle & Bongkersz)

We actually ended the day at 4:00 AM, everybody was sleepy …

I will be back with more pictures when I finally got them.

I would like to thank Finnegan’s staff especially to Celest, the outlet manager. Dude, you rock!

Small Talk : Another three more days before I reached KL. See you guys there! I can’t wait

Okay, I must confess. I am a fan, not just a fan but a big fan of Jay Chou!

A lot of people had been asking why the hell is someone who doesn’t speak Chinese and only understand a little, listening to Chinese songs and adoring a Chinese superstar? I said oh, come one, like those people who likes Korean dramas knows Korean in the first place?

The point is, music is universal for me. language is not the barrier but of course to understand the music you need to understand the language but to enjoy the music and feel so sooth by the melody do you have to? I don’t think so. Language is not a barrier. Sometimes I really hate those people who always think that the best music must come from the US. If you don’t listen to Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, Sean Paul then you’re not cool. So I just want to ask you this, do you know music after all? I’m not saying that I do but what right do you have to say that my music taste’s sucks?

Enough of that ramblings. Well, you might be curious why I listen to Jay Chou .. maybe you’re not but then again he’s a very talented young lad I must say. Singer, songwriter, actor, director and a superstar for God sake! Basically what drew me to his music is the talent that he has. I always admire musicians who write their own songs, their own music and this somehow telling the world that they’re no joke to the industry. I have my utmost respect for these people.

He’s not that drop dead handsome to begin with. He’s not the type that when girls look at him they can fall in love and drool over him for the first time. He doesn’t have that look. He paved his way up solely by showcasing his talents to the whole wide world. That is the thing that I want to see in an artist. the keyword here is talent! I don’t go gaga over someone who mime’s all the way through his or her concert, no I don’t. in fact if I ever did come to a concert like that I might regret it my whole life paying for a mime which basically my grandma can do better.

Oh, this must be a long one. Well, enough said.

Jay Chou World Tour 2008 : Malaysia

I’ll be coming for this one and I can’t wait.

Just for fun, this one is a tribute to Jay Chou .. Whooopi! I sang in Chinese and record it for the first time. This is supposed to be a duet song. I couldn’t find anyone to do a duet with me. This one is called “Shan Hu Hai“, taken from the album “November’s Choppin” by Jay Chou and Lara. Enjoy the song! Bear with the broken Chinese!

OK - Video Up!

Finally, the canceled Sibu Bloggers Meet did happen after all. I was pretty much excited about it as this is my first time having a gathering of “dot.coms“. Don’t play play oh. It was originally scrapped out of this year’s MOST HAPPENING BLOGGERS EVENT calendar due to the difficulties that we had when it comes to picking up dates for the event itself.

The meet was arranged by The Big Boss. We have been planning this for quite a while and seeing it finally happened was quite a relief. Amongst the bloggers who made it for the gath was Bengbeng, Clare, Bongkersz, WongPK and Clement. The meet was arranged at Muhibbah - Final Destination!

The main man, the one that everyone was dying to meet (suituapui la, who else) was in Penang that time (But I finally met him today though) Here are some of the pics that we took during the gath!

From left to right : Clement, me, Bongkersz
Sitting : Natalia, Clare
Not in the picture : Bengbeng, WongPK

WongPK got a movie to catch up, so we proceed till the end without him. He ditched us for some chics! Darn it!

Some snacks for the gathering. I’m sure it will dull without food - but will be 1000 times dull if without Clare and Natalia

The night would not be complete without having fun and of course some fine wine. We decided to crash at The Dixie Chic’s place. That was where all the fun began.

The peeps! Rock On!

Hands got itchy, play guitar lor ..

Clement in “tauke” mode

Hurm .. Irristable ka? Oittt …

Me and Nat - The Big Little Bully

This is one event that I would really hold dearly to my heart. - Chewahhh!

I’ll leave you with a clip from the gath, courtesy of Bengbeng. To Man-D and Melbie, nah - My MV singing live. Enjoy!

“Hey .. Good Cooking”

The first day of Chinese New Year. I am actually very much excited because to be honest this is my first time to be celebrating it as in really experiencing the mood, flows of the season in a very Chinese way. Maybe not traditionally but staying with a a family that celebrates it gives a little bit of the vibe of how the Chinese celebrates Chinese New Year. - I hope you got what I’m trying to say because seriously, I myself wasn’t very sure of what the hell was I saying.

Now, I was uploading some pictures to my flickr when Bengbeng popped a question :

Bengbeng : Do you cook?
me : I do. A little
Bengbeng : What can you cook?
me : Meat la, not really into veges
Bengbeng : Ok, let’s do some cooking

Ok, make that two questions then …

So, we had fun in the kitchen preparing food and stuffs. We make sure that Mrs BB will not have to do a thing this Chinese New Year. We want her to relax a bit. The cooking continues!

We actually have a few dishes to cook. I actually prepared “Ayam Masak Merah” and the “Bawal Hitam with Sweet Stewed Sauce“. As I am not really ready with a lot of stuffs so I’ll just make things simple but nice for everyone.

Ayam Masak Merah (with dried mushroom)
This is one of my favourite dish to cook. Why? Because it’s simple and not much things to do.

Bawal Hitam with Sweet Stewed Sauce.

This one is a classic. I love it. Bengbeng bought a packet of Sweet Stewed Sauce but none of us have ever tried using it before. So, I just thought that it would be nice if it can go nicely together with the Bawal Hitam. I mixed it with tomato sauce and some chili paste. The results, yummy!

That was the main dishes. We prepared a few other side dishes such as

Scrambled Eggs

Lobak masin soup with some seaweed

And some acar!

We had a nice lunch at home before we proceed to the visiting and stuffs. Will be back with more updates from Sibu!

Cheers, to the new year!

P/S : Suituapui, you missed a lot of the good stuffs here. LOL

Haven’t had the time to really sit down and blog. Just an update, I’m in Sibu at the moment - experiencing Chinese New Year in a whole new environment. I’ll leave you with a footage of last night’s fireworks courtesy of Bengbeng’s camera. I have to be honest, I’m a poor blogger with no camera!

Enjoy the show and wishing all of you a prosperous and joyful new year!

P/S : Suituapui, where’s my ang pow? I come here you go away .. *sigh*

“Miri Jazz Festival 2008″

Posted by: cibol
February 3rd,
2008

Every year another reason to be jolly is that there’s gonna be lots and lotsa events coming up. On of the event that I’m particularly looking forward to is Miri International Jazz Festival. I missed the first one last year due to the “kosong-ness” of my pocket and also I have nobody to go with as most of my comrades in arms are not here. Most of them are working in the peninsular and this year, I would not like to miss this one.

Miri International Jazz Festival aims to be the leading tourism-driven music festival in the region. By assembling regionally and internationally recognised, jazz musicians, the musical event aims to draw visitors to Miri and the Northern Region of Sarawak for a fun-filled and entertaining experience and at the same time showcasing Miri as a city of cosmopolitanism and relaxing lifestyle.

According to the official website, there will be six performers that have been confirmed to entertain you for the whole event. Amongst the bands listed are :

Habana Sax

Charmaine Clamor

Rumba Calzada

Mood Indigo

Diamond Dave and the Doodaddies

Borneo Jazz Quartet
Of course, our very own Borneo Jazz Quartet is an up and coming band to look out for.

Young and talented, the four-piece band play jazzy tunes infused with funky and Latin beat. They also have several original compositions which they will definitely present at the coming festival.

I might not be the biggest fan of Jazz music but heck - This is like once in a year kinda thing. I don’t want to missed it.
